Dhaka, Feb. 21 -- Police have detained six individuals from outside Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's residence in Dhaka's Gulshan after they reportedly refused to move from the high-security area.
The detainees are Khoda Box Akter, 26; Khadija Begum, 40; Khadija Begum, 35; Shaheda Begum, 48; Rina Akter, 48; and Mohammad Siddiq, 40.
Gulshan Police chief Rakibul Hasan told bdnews24.com that the group appeared to be involved in begging and had been lingering near the prime minister's home on Saturday evening.
"Security personnel at the PM's residence repeatedly asked them to move, but they did not comply. Following an alert from the security team, we brought them to the station after Iftar," the officer said.
