Dhaka, May 19 -- Police have brought Dhaka-based film actress Nusraat Faria to court and petitioned to detain her in jail over an attempt to murder case filed at Vatara Police Station over an incident during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement protests.

Sub Inspector Zakir Hossain, the general registration officer at Vatara Police Station, said in court that case investigation officer Sub Inspector Billal Bhuyian had petitioned to keep the actress in jail until the investigation was complete. The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's court will hold a hearing on the matter.

At 9am, Nusraat was taken to the court lock-up. She will be taken to the court dock for the hearing.
