Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- Police have arrested a man for attacking a couple in Uttara after they protested reckless motorbike riding.

The suspect, identified as Alfaz by a single name, allegedly assaulted the couple with a sharp weapon.

The incident occurred around 9:30pm on Monday on sector 7, road 9 of Uttara, when a speeding motorcycle hit a rickshaw.

The couple Mehebul Hasan and Nasreen Akter, who were on another motorbike, protested the incident.

The motorcycle riders threatened the couple and then physically assaulted them.

The attackers then called for reinforcements, leading to a brutal attack with weapons.

Uttara West Police Station chief Hafizur Rahman said Alfaz was arrested around 5:30pm on Tuesday.
