Dhaka, May 10 -- Police have arrested five Awami League leaders, including former MP Selina Islam over allegedly engineering "disruption of public order" and "spreading fear" through rallies and processions.
Selina was elected as MP for the Reserved Women's Seat-49 in the 11th National Parliament and serves as vice-president of the Awami League's North Cumilla District unit.
The others detained are: Abdus Sobhan Bhuiyan alias Hasan, former chairman of Chauddagram Upazila in Cumilla, Awlad Hossain Liton, three-time mayor of Matlab South Municipality in Chandpur and current president of the Matlab South Municipal Awami League.
