Dhaka, April 18 -- Police have arrested five people following a Mujibnagar Day rally at Bahaddarhat intersection in Chattogram.

The arrestees include four members of Awami League's student wing, Bangladesh Chhatra League, said Chandgaon Police Station chief Md Aftab Uddin.

The arrests took place on Thursday morning immediately after the rally, according to him.

The detainees have been identified as Didarul Alam, 43, Aris Uddin Nuru, 29, Shahed, 28, Juwel, 26, and Sumon, 25. All of them are residents of areas under the police station.

Videos circulating on social media show rally participants carrying banners featuring Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's photo and chanting slogans such as "Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu."
