Dhaka, Nov. 14 -- The Jatiya Party has been forced to curtail its workers' conference in Dinajpur after police intervened at the venue.
The party said in a media statement on Friday that the meeting was originally scheduled for 4pm at Dinajpur Press Club auditorium, but police removed leaders and workers before the session could start.
Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station chief Mohammad Nuruzzaman said they blocked the gathering due to "political threats" linked to Sheikh Hasina's verdict, adding that the organisers did not have administrative approval for the event.
Jatiya Party Co-chairman and former Rangpur mayor Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa and Secretary General Shameem Haider Patwary had arrived to attend the event.
