Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived at the Secretariat for his first working day in office.

He reached the Secretariat at 12:35pm on Wednesday, with the first cabinet meeting scheduled for the afternoon.

Security in and around the complex was tightened from the morning, with entry restrictions imposed.

Earlier at 11am, the prime minister paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Martyrs' Memorial. He later laid wreaths there along with members of his cabinet. The head of government also planted a tree at the site and signed the visitors' book.
