Dhaka, Dec. 26 -- A mild cold wave, the first of the season, is sweeping across several districts including Jashore, Chuadanga, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj and Nilphamari, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said on Friday that the ongoing cold spell is expected to last for around 24 hours.

"The mild cold wave blowing over Jashore, Chuadanga, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj and Nilphamari districts may continue until Saturday morning," she said.

According to data released by the BMD, the lowest temperature recorded in the country in the past 24 hours was 9 degrees Celsius in Jashore.
