Bangladesh, July 30 -- Disagreements have surfaced among political parties over how to appoint the head of a proposed caretaker government and how to structure women's representation in parliament, as negotiations on the draft July National Charter near their deadline.

The split became evident two days before the final version is due, as the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP) raised objections to parts of the draft and announced plans to submit their written remarks by Wednesday.

While consensus has emerged on several fronts, the caretaker appointment process and the mechanism for expanding female seats remain unresolved.
