Dhaka, Feb. 2 -- The Election Commission (EC) has started sending ballot papers to returning officers, along with the names and symbols of the candidates, for the parliamentary elections.

On Monday, EC Deputy Secretary Rashedul Islam said: "Ballot papers were sent from Dhaka to 12 districts on Sunday. They are being sent to eight more districts [on Monday]."

He added that the ballot papers for all constituencies in each district are being sent after printing is completed.

This time, 2,017 candidates will compete for 300 seats in 64 districts.

Ballot papers were sent to Meherpur, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Jhenaidah, Bagerhat, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Lalmonirhat, Lakshmipur, Bandarban, Khagrachhari and Rangamati on Sunday.
