Dhaka, Feb. 14 -- Bangladesh's newly elected members of parliament are expected to be sworn in as early as Monday as preparations enter their final stages following the publication of official election results.

The Election Commission published the gazette notification for 297 lawmakers late on Friday.

Under Article 148(2A) of the Constitution, elected members must take their oath within three days of gazette publication.

Officials at the Parliament Secretariat said Monday was being treated as the likely date, although no formal announcement has yet been made.

"All preparations are being advanced with Monday in mind. However, nothing has been officially confirmed," an official said on Saturday.
