Dhaka, Nov. 14 -- A passenger bus parked beside the road in Barguna's Amtali Upazila has been set ablaze.

The Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel later brought the fire under control as police arrested five people over the incident.

Amtali Police Station OC Dewan Jaglul Hasan said that a "Swarna Paribahan" was set on fire at the Badhghat intersection in the Upazila around 12am on Friday.

As there was no one inside the bus, no casualties were reported. However, about 70 to 80 percent of the bus was burnt, said Md Abu Hanif, warehouse inspector of Amtali Fire Service Station.

He said, "The Swarna Paribahan bus was parked beside the road. The assailants suddenly set fire to the bus in the middle of the night."
