Dhaka, Dec. 12 -- Sharif Osman bin Hadi, convenor of Inquilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8, has been taken from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to Evercare Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head.

At 8pm on Friday, the ambulance carrying Hadi reached the private hospital, where BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is receiving treatment.

Earlier, DMCH Director Brigadier General Asaduzzaman said the transfer was being made following "a government decision".

Hadi underwent surgery at DMCH, the director said, adding that the bullet remains in his head.

He also suffered injuries to his chest and leg, likely from falling off a rickshaw.
