Dhaka, June 28 -- Another person has died of dengue while 262 new patients have been hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease across Bangladesh over the past 24 hours.

The number of patients hospitalised with the disease this year rose to 9,484, while the tally of deaths climbed to 41.

Of these fatalities, 18 have occurred in the ongoing month of June alone.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said as many as 48 new patients were hospitalised in the Dhaka metropolitan area until Saturday.

In addition, 18 were hospitalised in the Dhaka Division, six each in the Mymensingh and Khulna, 40 in the Chattogram, 141 in the Barishal, and three in the Sylhet.
