Dhaka, June 15 -- Another person has died due to dengue fever while 249 new patients have been hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease across Bangladesh over the past 24 hours.

The number of patients hospitalised with the disease this year has risen to 5,988, with the tally of deaths at 30.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the latest victim was under treatment at a hospital in the Dhaka South City Corporation area.

As of Sunday morning, the highest number of newly admitted patients was in the Barishal Division -- 135 people.
