Dhaka, April 20 -- The BNP has begun meetings with its allies to decide on a course of action regarding the general election by December.

After a meeting with the 12-party alliance on Saturday afternoon, BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan said no street agitation is needed against the interim government.

"We believe the government will work according to people's aspirations," he said.

The BNP held a separate meeting with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) following one with the 12-party alliance at the BNP chairperson's Gulshan office in Dhaka.

The party has become vocal for the election amid the interim government's reform initiatives after the Awami League government's fall in a mass uprising on Aug 5 last year.
