Dhaka, Feb. 17 -- Newly elected lawmakers have begun arriving at the parliament complex ahead of their swearing-in as members of the 13th national parliament.

Vehicles carrying BNP MPs started entering the parliament complex from 9am on Tuesday. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 10am at the parliament's oath chamber, where Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin will administer the oath.

In keeping with convention, MPs from the majority party, the BNP, are set to take oath first.

Security has been stepped up in and around the parliament complex for the ceremony. National identity cards are being checked at entry points, and access to the area has been restricted.
