Dhaka, Feb. 15 -- The interim government has terminated the appointment of Faisal Mahmud as press minister at Bangladesh's High Commission in New Delhi, nine months before the end of his tenure.

A notification from the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday said: "The remaining tenure of his contractual appointment has been cancelled."

Faisal, editor of Bangla Outlook, was appointed for two years in September 2024.

His dismissal comes as the BNP prepares to form a new government following its landslide victory in the Feb 12 election.

The interim administration, installed after the July Uprising that ousted the Awami League government, made the move before the BNP's swearing-in.
