Bangladesh, Aug. 29 -- The number of containers handled in the New Mooring Terminal (NCT) has hit a new record after surpassing 5,000 TEUs handled in a day.
The new daily record was made after Chittagong Drydock Ltd, a company run by the Bangladesh Navy, took over management of the NCT.
A statement from the dry dock said that 5,019 TEUs of containers were handled in the 24 hours from 8am on Thursday to 8am on Friday.
Among these, 2,101 TEUs are import containers and 2,918 TEUs are export containers.
Chittagong Drydock Ltd took over the NCT from Jul 7 after the contract with Saif Powertec Limited, a private operator that had operated NCT for a long time, ended.
