Dhaka, Oct. 13 -- The National Citizen Party will contest the national election using the "Shapla" or water lily symbol, according to Sarjis Alam, the party's chief organiser for the northern region.
Speaking after the party's district coordination committee meeting in Jamalpur on Monday, he said there are "no legal barriers" to awarding NCP the symbol.
Sarjis indicated that if verdicts in high-profile cases involving Sheikh Hasina and others are delivered within December, the election scheduled for February should proceed "without hindrance".
He also said the government would not move towards an election without a legal basis for the July Charter.
