Dhaka, May 3 -- Leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) have harshly criticised the interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus, accusing it of "delaying" the prosecution of the ousted Awami League (AL) and its leaders.

The newly formed party's Convenor Nahid Islam said, "The boat symbol must be wiped out from Bangladesh.

"The Awami League's organisational and political activities must be banned by law during trial."

The party, composed of student leaders of the July Uprising, also alleged the Election Commission formed by the interim government is "not working to uphold the people's aspirations".
