Dhaka, April 21 -- The National Citizen Party (NCP) has suspended its joint member secretary Gazi Salahuddin Tanvir of all party duties over allegations of interfering in the appointment of a deputy commissioner and the printing process of textbooks by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

Tanvir has been asked to respond to the allegations within seven days and explain why he should not be permanently expelled from the party.

The action came just 24 hours after the formation of NCP's central disciplinary committee, in line with a decision from its third general meeting.

Tanvir, a controversial figure within the party, had previously faced internal and external scrutiny over his activities.
