Dhaka, Oct. 17 -- The National Citizen Party has decided not to sign the July National Charter or attend its signing ceremony.
The decision was announced in a message sent to the media at midnight on Thursday.
The signing ceremony for the JCharter is set to take place on Friday afternoon at the South Plaza of the parliament.
Political parties have been invited to the event by the National Consensus Commission.
Chief Advsior Muhammad Yunus, president and chairman of the commission, has called on the nation to celebrate this historic moment in a grand manner.
The NCP, however, opposed the ceremony, arguing that the legal basis for implementing the Charter remains "unclear".
