Dhaka, Dec. 28 -- Tajnuva Jabeen, a senior leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has resigned from the youth-led political group amid reports of a potential alliance between the party and Jamaat-e-Islami.
She announced her decision in a Facebook post at 12:35pm on Sunday.
Tajnuva had been serving as a joint convenor of the NCP. Her resignation comes a day after the party's senior joint member secretary Tasnim Jara also quit the party and said she would contest the upcoming election as an independent candidate.
In her post, Tajnuva said she had planned to resign after an official announcement of the alliance but decided to step down sooner after becoming convinced the deal had already been finalised.
