Dhaka, Jan. 2 -- National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Mahmuda Alam Mitu has declared an annual income of Tk 300,000 in an affidavit filed with her nomination papers.

Mitu, a physician, submitted the affidavit alongside her nomination for the Jhalakathi-1 constituency in the upcoming parliamentary election.

According to the affidavit, which cites her income tax filings, she has assets worth Tk 2.8 million and holds Tk 2.8 million in cash. She also reported owning gold ornaments valued at Tk 4.5 million.

The 36-year-old lives in West Malibagh in Dhaka and hails from South Kaikhali in Kathalia.

Her affidavit says her husband earns Tk 849,573 a year and paid Tk 31,457 in income tax. Mitu's own income tax entry is listed as "zero".
