Dhaka, Feb. 21 -- A Bogura court has sent a National Citizen Party (NCP) leader to jail in connection with a case filed over embezzlement of funds, extortion and torture of a business rival.

Bogura District NCP Assistant General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Sagar was produced in court on Saturday afternoon.

Additional Police Superintendent Mostafa Manjur confirmed the matter.

Police arrested Mizanur around 10:30pm on Friday from outside the temple at Jaleswaritola in the city.

According to police, Mizanur was a fugitive in the case was filed on Aug 30 last year by a complainant named Rubel Pramanik.

The case alleged Mizanur along with four to five of his accomplices arrived on motorcycles and intercepted Rubel.
