Dhaka, July 1 -- The National Citizen Party (NCP) has begun its procession programme in Rangpur after paying respects at the grave of Abu Sayed, the first martyr of the July Uprising.
On the first day of the month-long "July March", marking the first anniversary of the July Movement, NCP leaders and activists visited the grave of martyr Abu Sayed in Pirgonj at 10:30am on Tuesday.
During the visit, NCP Convenor Nahid Islam, a prominent face of the movement that toppled the Awami League government last year, said: "The July Uprising is not just a time of protest for us. It symbolises our sacrifices, determination, and dreams. A year has passed quickly, and in that time, we've had some achievements and faced challenges."
