Dhaka, Jan. 19 -- The National Citizen Party (NCP) has demanded the withdrawal of show-cause notices issued against its leaders and called for an explanation from the Election Commission (EC).

NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain made the demands at a press conference at the party's headquarters in Banglamotor, after a meeting with Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna.

Asif blamed the EC for "inaction" against candidates of other political parties who are running election campaigns violating the electoral code of conduct.

He called for equal enforcement of the law, saying the chairperson of a party should have been warned after his photos were widely used upon his return to the country.
