Dhaka, June 24 -- The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has pulled in Tk 9.94 billion in unpaid taxes over the last nine months through an extensive series of anti-evasion drives across Bangladesh.

In a media statement issued on Tuesday, NBR's public relations office said field units and intelligence teams under its Customs and Income Tax division carried out 16,572 separate crackdowns between September and May.

The total amount of dodged taxes discovered through these efforts is estimated at Tk 62.46 billion.

Among them, Customs Houses conducted 2,215 operations, linked to Tk 1.83 billion in evaded revenue, all of which has been recovered, according to the statement.
