Dhaka, Feb. 9 -- National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Nahid Islam has threatened to besiege the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday if the rule barring mobile phones within 400 yards of polling centres is not changed.

He was speaking at an election rally of the 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami in Mohammadpur on Monday afternoon.

"We don't know how the commission is formulating these rules. It is evident to the public that the Election Commission is carrying out someone's plan or agenda," he said.

"We are warning that if this rule is not changed by nightfall, the Election Commission will be besieged (Tuesday)," he announced.
