Dhaka, Jan. 2 -- Election officials have rejected the nomination papers of Nagorik Oikko President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, a prospective candidate for the Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency in the upcoming national polls.

Returning Officer Toufiqur Rahman declared the nomination invalid on Friday, citing discrepancies in the information provided in Manna's affidavit.

The decision comes just days after the Supreme Court cleared the way for Manna to contest the upcoming parliamentary election by suspending a High Court order that had previously barred him from running as he was named in the Credit Information Bureau's list of loan defaulters.
