Dhaka, Oct. 13 -- As part of their "uninterrupted sit-in" demanding 20 percent of their basic salary as housing allowance, MPO-affiliated teachers and employees have continued their protest at the Central Shaheed Minar for a second day.
Although organisers announced an "uninterrupted sit-in" at private MPO-affiliated educational institutions from Monday to protest the "police attack" on demonstrators, the work stoppage is being observed unevenly across the country.
Classes continued in most private educational institutions in the capital on Monday.
"Classes are going on in our educational institutions. Teachers here are not going on strike," said Mezbahul Islam, a teacher at the Basabo branch of the Model School and College in Dhaka.
