Dhaka, Jan. 5 -- Jubayer Hossain Pappu, a motorcyclist arrested in connection with the murder of lawyer Naim Kibria in Dhaka's Bashundhara Residential Area, has provided a confessional statement in court.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana recorded the statement and subsequently ordered the 29-year-old suspect to be sent to prison on Monday, according to Prosecution Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain.

On Wednesday night, 35-year-old Naim, an apprentice lawyer at the Pabna Judge Court, was severely beaten following an incident where a motorcycle collided with his private car in the Bashundhara Residential Area.

He was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where attending doctors pronounced him dead.
