Dhaka, Nov. 25 -- A mother and her two children have been found dead in an apparent case of murder-suicide in Bogura's Shajahanpur Upazila.

Law enforcers believe the woman slit the throats of her children before dying by suicide, says Shafiqul Islam, chief of Shajahanpur Police Station.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Khottapara Union's Khalishakandi village.

The dead have been identified as Sadia Mostarim, 24, and her two children Saifa, 4, and Saif, 2.

Police and locals believe Sadia used a Boti to kill her children before tying a scarf around her neck and hanging herself in her house between 8am and 8:30am.

Sadia's husband Shahadat Hossain was sleeping in the next room at the time.
