Dhaka, Dec. 1 -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his wishes for the swift recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

In a post on X on Monday, he wrote: "Deeply concerned to learn about the health of [Khaleda], who has contributed to Bangladesh's public life for many years.

"Our sincere prayers and best wishes for her speedy recovery. India stands ready to extend all possible support, in whatever way we can."

Former prime minister Khaleda, 79, has long been battling multiple health complications, including arthritis, diabetes, and kidney, liver, lung, and eye problems.

She was taken to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka's Bashundhara on Nov 23 for a health check-up and admitted after tests detected an infection in her chest.
