Dhaka, July 26 -- Mobile internet service, which was disrupted amid the violence surrounding the quota protest movement, is likely to resume at the start of next week, the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission said.

"Broadband internet service has been restored across the country but we are still running some trials on resuming mobile internet service," BTRC Chairman Md Mohiuddin Ahmed said on Friday.

"We have to see the impact on the transmission lines and data centres already repaired, as the mobile internet service will put more pressure on them. We are running some trials and if everything goes well, we plan to resume service on Sunday or Monday," he said.
