Dhaka, July 20 -- Mahmudul Hasan Mohin, the main accused in the murder case of scrap trader Lal Chand alias Md Sohag, has reportedly confessed in court to the killing.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Tanvir Morshed Chowdhury of Kotwali police's prosecution wing informed the court that he agreed to make the "confessional statement" on Sunday after being remanded for two 5-day periods.

Mohin was presented before the court by the case's investigation officer, Kotwali Police Station chief Md Moniruzzaman, who made the plea to record the statement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mahbubur Rahman then recorded it. Following this, SI Tanvir said he would be sent to jail.
