Dhaka, Jan. 30 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has held a meeting at the invitation of US Charge d'Affaires in Dhaka Tracey Ann Jacobson.

The meeting at the residence of the US embassy's top diplomat took place between 10am and 11am on Thursday, said the party's Organising Secretary Shama Obaid, who was present at the event.

"It is part of a series of meetings with different political parties hosted by the new charge d'affaires of the United States. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended the meeting today at her invitation," she said.

"Jacobson sought the BNP's opinion on the country's current circumstances, the economic condition, and what the BNP thinks about the election."
