Dhaka, Feb. 2 -- A medical technologist has died after a speeding truck ran him over in Panchagarh.

The accident took place at 9:30pm on Sunday in front of Pakuritala Madina Cold Storage on the Debiganj-Boda Asian Highway, according to Debiganj Police chief (OC) KM Moniruzzaman Chowdhury.

The victim, 38-year-old Somesh Chandra, worked at the "Mayer Hashi Diagnostic Centre" in Debiganj town and was returning home after his shift when he was hit by the sand-laden truck, according to police and witnesses.

He was seriously injured and died at the scene, despite efforts by locals to rescue him.
