Dhaka, Nov. 16 -- Police in Sylhet have recovered the body of a medical student in Sylhet Sadar Upazila.

Around 10am on Saturday, the victim was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her residence in the Korerpara of the city, according to Jalalabad Police chief Mohammad Mubashshir.

The student has been identified as Priya Sharma, 22, daughter of Amrika Ranjan Sharma.

She was a third-year MBBS student at Jalalabad Ragib Rabeya Medical College and Hospital.

Relatives alerted police after seeing her hanging in her room. Officers took her down and rushed her to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Officer Mubashshir said exam disappointment may have driven her to kill herself.
