Bangladesh, Aug. 29 -- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) says the well-marked low located on the northwest Bay of Bengal near the coast of India's Odisha has weakened into a low-pressure area currently over India's Chhattisgarh and its adjacent areas.
In a special bulletin on Friday, the BMD said the system may now move west-northwest, leading to a steep pressure gradient in the north Bay of Bengal area.
However, gusty or squally winds are unlikely over all maritime ports, the north bay, and adjacent coastal areas, the BMD said.
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to lower their cautionary signals.
