Dhaka, March 2 -- Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has cautioned political parties against manipulating elections, warning that such tactics might yield short-term gains but ultimately lead to disastrous consequences.

Speaking at a discussion on National Voters' Day at the Election Building in Agargaon on Sunday, Nasir said: "History bears witness-by engaging in election engineering, by terrorising the vote, you may secure victory momentarily."

"But in the end, it can bring disaster for yourself, for your party, and for the country. Ultimately, you cannot survive."

Calling for free and fair elections, he urged all stakeholders to resist any temptation to interfere with the voting process.
