Dhaka, Jan. 1 -- A man has been killed in a suspected stabbing attack in Dhaka's Hazaribagh area.

Following a 999 call, police found the victim, identified by a single name as Shipon, lying in a pool of blood in an alley near Siam School in the Jhauchar area around 3am on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old was subsequently rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Shipon was a resident of the Hazaribagh Boro Masjid area.

Hazaribagh Police Station chief (OC) Md Hafizur Rahman said he had suffered multiple stab wounds to his head and body.

Police believe the attack was carried out by four youths following a previous dispute. Efforts are under way to identify and locate those involved, said OC Hafizur.
