Dhaka, March 21 -- A man has been shot dead in front of the Police Plaza Concord Shopping Mall in Dhaka's Gulshan area.

The deceased, 35-year-old Shumon, identified by a single name, was gunned down on Thursday, Gulshan Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mokhlesur Rahman said around 8:30pm.

According to Gulshan Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Al Amin Hossain, the victim was widely known as "Tele Shumon".

"It is believed his rivals killed him as a result of internal conflict," Al Amin said.

Police have launched an investigation to determine who was responsible for the killing.

Law-enforcing agencies failed to provide further details about the victim or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
