Dhaka, Feb. 3 -- A man has been killed and at least eight others have been injured in an attack by two rival sides over control of a market under construction in Sreenagar Upazila of Munshiganj.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning in front of the under-construction Tomi Market at Balashur Bazar, said Sreenagar Police Station chief Md Jewel Miah.

The deceased was identified as Md Alamgir, 50, a resident of the Balashur area.

Among the injured were his brother Tamizuddin, 65, Jahangir, 55, Tarek, 35, Tushar, 24, and Abdur Rahman, 23.

The identities of several other victims could not be immediately confirmed.

Police and local residents said Alamgir and Tamizuddin had jointly begun construction of the market on the disputed land....
