Dhaka, Feb. 20 -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called his Bangladeshi counterpart Tarique Rahman to congratulate him on his victory in the general election.

The phone call took place at 3pm on Friday, confirmed the Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh.

During the conversation, the two leaders exchanged greetings and expressed their commitment to working together to strengthen bilateral relations and promote mutual prosperity.

"They both expressed a firm resolve to elevate the ties between the two nations to new heights," the press secretary said.

Assistant Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon added that Tarique was at his residence when the call came through.
