Bangladesh, Sept. 23 -- Maj Gen Kabir Ahmed, former military secretary to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take up an ambassadorial role.

A similar order has been issued for Maj Gen Sheikh Md Sarwar Hossain, who had been serving as chairman of the Bangladesh Tea Board.

According to a government order issued on Monday, the senior officers have been transferred on deputation, but no specific ambassadorial postings have yet been assigned.

The order noted that until they are given missions to head as ambassadors, they will remain at the ministry.
