Dhaka, Dec. 29 -- Former student advisor Mahfuj Alam will not participate in the parliamentary elections, according to a report by BBC Bangla.
Quoting the former information advisor, it reported that he had no desire to leave the interim government; however, he was required to resign to ensure the administration's "neutrality".
Speaking to BBC Bangla, he said: "I have maintained from the very beginning that I would not be contesting in the election. For this reason, I did not wish to step down from the government.
"The administration, however, felt that the presence of student representatives might lead to questions over neutrality during the election period."
