Dhaka, Sept. 30 -- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has indicated the formation of a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal at the start of October, which could lead to heavy rainfall and temporary flooding in several low-lying areas across the country.

According to a bulletin on Tuesday, the extended part of the low-pressure system stretches from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Bangladesh's northern regions to Assam.

While the monsoon winds remain weak over Bangladesh, they are moderately active in the northern Bay of Bengal. The Met Office predicts a low-pressure area to form in the northern Bay and adjacent central Bay within the next 24 hours.
