Bangladesh, Aug. 18 -- A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has prompted authorities to hoist Cautionary signal No. 3 at Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports.
Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman said on Monday the depression had formed over the west-central Bay and adjoining northwest Bay, near the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha.
It was moving west-northwest and could intensify further, he added.
The system has caused a steep pressure gradient over the northern Bay, with gusty or squally winds likely to sweep across coastal districts and seaports.
